UPBEAT AWARDS 2026
Nominee for BEST NEW TALENT

TRUCS

About the Nominee

In the Pyrenees, the bells worn by herds are carefully tuned, forming a unique sonic signature that allows shepherds to recognize their animals by sound alone. What may seem like noise becomes a living orchestra, rich, textured and deeply rooted in tradition. With TRUCS, Alexis Toussaint and Romain Colautti (Artús) transform these cultural objects into a bold musical exploration. Blending percussion, strings of bells and inventive instrumentation with electronics, they create immersive soundscapes where rhythm meets resonance and heritage meets experimentation.Centered around a striking setup of prepared drums, tambourines and suspended “bell trees,” TRUCS reimagines these symbolic instruments, revealing their raw musical power while expanding them into a captivating, contemporary sonic experience.
